|
SafeSol is a 50%
hydrogen peroxide solution catalysed using colloidal silver and stabilised
using a number of other trace additives. The pH of the chemical is around
2.3 SafeSol is used at a variety of concentrations. The neat chemical will be dosed using conventional dosing equipment and it is important that tanks which contain the chemical and pumping systems and devices which are used to dose the chemical are fabricated in appropriate materials. SafeSol is used as a surface disinfectant and it is important that the solution strengths used (generally 1% to 5%) will not affect any materials with which the solution will come into contact. Finally SafeSol is used as a biocide for water treatment. Solution strengths are unlikely to exceed 200 ppm for this application and it is important to be aware of the effect, which dilute SafeSol might have on water system materials. |
SafeSol is an extremely strong oxidising agent. It is also, in its neat form, acidic. It decomposes readily in the presence of soluble iron and readily reacts with reactive organic materials. The following tables are based on the best corrosion data we have available at present. Our experience indicates that neat solution will not cause any problems with any of the conventional dosing pumps or dosing tanks. The strengths found in water systems should pose no threat to the integrity of the system although corrosion products in steel systems could lead to the decomposition of the SafeSol solution. The reaction of SafeSol with organics means that it will remove biofilm and microbiological slimes from pipe work internals. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
