The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) recommend that shower heads and hoses are descaled at least quarterly.(HSE 274 Part 2) The frequency should be increased if the scale on your shower head builds up quicker than this. This can happen if the water in your area is particularly hard.

Product Information

SafeSol DD1 (descale and disinfect) is ideal for this job. It is based on Huwa-San TR-3, silver stabilised hydrogen peroxide plus a small amount of mineral acid. The Huwa-San TR3 will disinfect and remove biofilm while the mineral acid in the product removes scale.

It is one of the few all-in-one products on the market which will disinfect and descale showerheads and hoses. Normally two separate products are required however the combined product is much easier to use. Water hygiene operators simply add it to water and the showers are left to soak. DD1 disinfectant and descaler is gentle to chrome and the plastic coatings associated with showers. Ideal for commercial applications. This product is also suitable for disinfecting and descaling thermostatic mixer valves. Our customers for this product include households, councils, hotels and student accommodation providers.

Ideally shower heads and hoses should be removed and soaked in solution. However if this is not possible then showers can be directly sprayed with DD1.
